The countdown has begun, D-day minus 45 before we move into our new home. As you might imagine, this new decorating project is so exciting that I catch myself daydreaming whenever have a minute about what I intend to do in each of the rooms. This is the current state of the living room, great bones and a ton of potential.
The living room does not feature as much of the house’s architectural character as the other rooms do as it not fully original to the house (it underwent an extension some years ago), so I figured we’d have a little fun decorating it. I crossed my heart and kissed my elbow, to the current owners, that I would not paint the oak woodwork. That being said, I wish to brighten things up a little. Removing the carpet to expose the oak floors underneath is number one on my list. Then onto colour… How about blush for a change? Too feminine you think? I figure that with accents of deep brown wood and our grey sofa and loveseat I think we have something quite “dashing” to work with.
Here are some of the inspirations of what I have in mind.
