We’ve all been there – decorating is expensive. But with the right resources, there are ways to make it less so. In this series, I will attempt to show you how items similar in style can be wildly different in price. Sometimes it’s worth the splurge and sometimes, it’s worth digging to find a nice equivalent. – Gabrielle, Savvy Home
I don’t know about you, but I’m totally ready for warmer weather – so I was excited to see this light and bright sitting room decorated by Hillary Thomas for last year’s Traditional Home Napa Valley Showhouse. It got me thinking that while we don’t all have a sunroom, we can probably all pick a sunny corner around our house and make it into a makeshift sunroom.
Here’s what you’ll need: light and bright furniture (think ivory or cream), natural textures like rattan and seagrass and a couple of soft green accents. Add a very light leafy wallpaper and a few plants (just like Hillary, I’m partial to fiddle leaf fig trees and succulents), make sure your seating is comfortable and adjacent to a window, and you’ve got yourself a sunroom! Where would you splurge and where would you save?
