We’ve all been there – decorating is expensive. But with the right resources, there are ways to make it less so. In this series, I will attempt to show you how items similar in style can be wildly different in price. Sometimes it’s worth the splurge and sometimes, it’s worth digging to find a nice equivalent. – Gabrielle, Savvy Home
Little luxuries in a home are all about creating special spaces that draw you in and make you feel relaxed and happy. For me, one of these spaces is a cozy game corner. It doesn’t need to be a big space – in fact, it’s preferably a tiny space where you can really shut the world out.
My parents have a cozy game nook at their country house that’s used exclusively for playing backgammon (our entire family is crazy for the game). It’s a great way to unwind and an excuse to leave whatever you’re doing behind and focus on something purely for the fun of it. Better yet, creating a similar game corner doesn’t require much space or money. If you can’t afford a backgammon table, simply paint a vintage table and treat yourself to a nice backgammon set instead. Where would you splurge and where would you save?
