I love how decor has evolved over the past few years. Form very formal and traditional with “shellacked” pictures of interiors devoid of anything natural or slightly askew, we now see homes full of life and some daily mess too. It is perfectly imperfect and I find it personally much more beautiful.
This beach house in Biarritz, France, ticks off all the boxes of what makes a house a home:
Plants strewn here and there
Children toys and pint size furniture in the main rooms of the house
Bits and bobs of family memories exposed as art atop the fridge, shelves of dressers
Colourful & mismatched dishware
But there are also some very current trends that are present in this home, proving that its owners have a keen eye for design and that they are comfortable mixing it all up to create a home that is unique. Take such trends as the wooden beads suspension & the cement patterned tiles in the kitchen, the painted white or polished cement floors throughout the house which channel a very Scandi and luminous feel we so crave these days, the many vintage accents integrated amongst more modern elements, and the touches of neon colours, sisal accents in rugs and suspensions, and painted metal furniture that are all part of this year’s top trends.
