It’s been a month already since started this blog, and I love how our relationship is blossoming!
Pardon the pun, but I can’t help it. With all the spring flowers sprouting up, I’ve been absolutely obsessed with freshly cut flowers.
There’s also a delectable sense of indulgence in cut flowers. They’re totally a guilty pleasure. After all, they serve no other purpose than to smell wonderful and look pretty.
Don’t... Wait for an Occasion: Break all the rules and get flowers because it’s Monday or because you’re wearing pink shoes. Any excuse is a good one. But whatever you do, don’t wait to get them on our birthday (once a year is not a good flowers-to-home ratio).
Do… Use Blooms to Refresh Your Décor: The personal touches you add to your home décor are what make it uniquely yours. Fresh blooms are a perfect way to bring new life, warmth and lots of personality to a space.
Don’t… Underestimate the Power of Flowers: I may only be a humble design groupie but I believe, in my heart of hearts, that flowers have mood-lifting magic in their delicate petals. I mean, have you ever seen anyone annoyed or sad while arranging or receiving flowers? I rest my case.
Do… Think Outside of the Vase: Get creative! Cut the stems off the blooms and put them in various colorful containers. Anything goes, just as long as it is watertight please!
Do… Learn the Lingo: If flower names and families are like trying to speak a foreign language for you, here is an alphabet full of blooms, playfully described by Design*Sponge.
When in doubt, pick up a bunch. They’re sure to make your room (and day) pop with cheer!
May 10th: This blogpost was the last I ever got to write for the Design Groupie blog of Sweetspot before it was shut down a week later… I hope you enjoy it.0
