We’ve all been there – decorating is expensive. But with the right resources, there are ways to make it less so. In this series, I will attempt to show you how items similar in style can be wildly different in price. Sometimes it’s worth the splurge and sometimes, it’s worth digging to find a nice equivalent. – Gabrielle, Savvy Home
I don’t know about you, but when the first snowflakes make their appearance around November, I start planning winter escapes in my head: somewhere warm, sunny and coastal. So naturally, these pictures of Aerin Lauder’s beach house (featured in her new book Beauty at Home) caught my eye.
We can’t all have a winter escape somewhere, but sometimes, just a small nook with a few subtle coastal elements in your home can do the trick: just add rattan, coral, ceramic garden stools and planters and lots of whites and soft pastels. It’s easy to get the look of Aerin’s reading nook above. The real question is, where would you splurge and where would you save?
