Widely used in New England style dining rooms, the Windsor chair actually originates from the Windsor castle in 18th-century England, where it was used as a garden chair. It was widely popularized in England and America shortly after, for both outdoor and indoor use, which explains its popularity in traditional country style American homes. Today the windsor chair comes in all styles, colors and shapes from traditional to modern. Bow-backs, low-backs, fan-backs, wheel-backs and brace-backs are the most common.
