Je suis n\u00e9e d’un p\u00e8re qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois et d’une m\u00e8re fran\u00e7aise. J’ai grandit toute ma vie ici, je suis qu\u00e9b\u00e9coise et j’en suis fi\u00e8re { la plupart du temps du moins}. Mon mari est qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois et nos enfants aussi. Mais de ces 3 enfants, un a choisi de ne parler que l’anglais<\/strong>. Oui je sais, on a aussi fait le saut.<\/p>\n

Quand on a re\u00e7u le diagnostic d’un trouble du spectre de l’autisme pour notre Teddy, rien dans le rapport ne faisait allusion au fait qu’une rigidit\u00e9 linguistique puisse faire partie des d\u00e9fis que nous aurions \u00e0 relever. Devant nos efforts r\u00e9p\u00e9t\u00e9s \u00e0 vouloir lui inculquer la belle langue de Moli\u00e8re et son acharnement \u00e0 ne parler que celle de Shakespeare, nous nous sommes rendus \u00e0 l’\u00e9vidence que notre petit bonhomme avait une t\u00eate bien \u00e0 lui et qu’au moins il n’avait pas choisi une langue que nous ne parlons pas comme le mandarin ou le danois. Nos discussions et r\u00e9flexions nous ont amen\u00e9es \u00e0 faire une demande de d\u00e9rogation pour qu’il puisse \u00e9tudier en anglais. Une d\u00e9rogation\u00a0qu’il a obtenue non pas par charit\u00e9 mais parce que c’est ce qu’il y a de mieux pour lui \u00e0 ce moment-ci.<\/p>\n

Malgr\u00e9 cela, il n’y a pas une semaine qui passe sans qu’au moins une personne ne me demande pourquoi je ne lui apprend pas le fran\u00e7ais, pourquoi je ne continue pas d’essayer, que \u00e7a n’a pas de sens qu’il ne fasse pas plus d’effort<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Hummm.<\/p>\n

Parlons d’effort<\/strong>. L’effort pour moi c’est de donner \u00e0 notre petit loup les outils, quels qu’ils soient, qui feront de lui un adulte autonome et confiant, sur qui on peut compter, avec des valeurs solides, et qui contribuera \u00e0 sa fa\u00e7on \u00e0 la soci\u00e9t\u00e9. M\u00eame s’il le fera peut-\u00eatre en anglais son coeur sera toujours une partie du n\u00f4tre, uni par une seule et m\u00eame langue, celle du respect & de l’amour.<\/p>\n
