Le terme n’est pas n\u00e9 hier. Le minimalisme puise ses racines aussi loin qu’\u00c9picure, 300 ans avant notre \u00e8re, pour qui le bonheur passait par un mode de vie simple et frugal. Au XXe si\u00e8cle, Mies van der Rohe en fait un principe architectural : “less is more”. Puis Marie Kondo en fait une m\u00e9thode de rangement mondial. Chaque g\u00e9n\u00e9ration r\u00e9interpr\u00e8te le concept selon ses angoisses propres. La n\u00f4tre, satur\u00e9e d’images g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9es \u00e0 la demande, avait besoin d’une version qui ne soit pas une punition. Ce qui est nouveau de cette ronde de minimalisme est l’aspect “heureux”.<\/p>\n

Ce qu\u2019on constate actuellement, en design et dans nos int\u00e9rieurs, n’est pas une rupture avec le minimalisme classique, c’est sa correction. Le blanc total, le d\u00e9pouillement sans \u00e2me, l’espace pour l’espace, c’est termin\u00e9. Ce qu’Elisheva propose \u00e0 la place, c’est un int\u00e9rieur qui nous appartient. \u00ab J’existe, \u00e0 travers mon d\u00e9cor<\/em> \u00bb dit-elle, pour \u00e9viquer le fait que nos int\u00e9rieurs ont une vocation identitaire et unique \u00e0 chacun.e. Le minimalisme heureux, c’est aussi une r\u00e9ponse \u00e0 la fatigue du d\u00e9cor performatif. On n’am\u00e9nage plus pour impressionner, on am\u00e9nage pour soi. La perennit\u00e9 remplace la tendance. Un objet prend une place dans l’espace parce qu’il a \u00e9t\u00e9 adopt\u00e9 et puis aim\u00e9 et utilis\u00e9 au quotidien.<\/p>\n

Chez C\u0153ur d’Artichaut, les objets ne sont pas l\u00e0 pour remplir un vide. La boutique, nich\u00e9e avenue Laurier Est dans le Petit Laurier, mise sur une s\u00e9lection m\u00e9ticuleuse de pi\u00e8ces venues des quatre coins du monde, mais chaque objet a une histoire, une provenance, une raison d’\u00eatre dans l’espace de quelqu’un. C’est exactement ce que le minimalisme heureux revendique : moins, mais choisi. Moins, mais aim\u00e9.<\/p>\n

La r\u00e9flexion d’Elisheva s’inscrit dans un contexte plus large. Apr\u00e8s Pinterest, apr\u00e8s l’\u00e8re des int\u00e9rieurs Instagram-parfaits, l’intelligence artificielle est devenue le nouveau moodboard. Puissant pour visualiser, certes. Mais fondamentalement limit\u00e9 : il manque l’aspect de comment on vit dans l’espace. L’IA peut produire en trente secondes un int\u00e9rieur parfaitement coh\u00e9rent, chromatiquement juste, tendance au pixel pr\u00e8s. Ce qu’elle ne sait pas faire : raconter pourquoi ce bol en gr\u00e8s a voyag\u00e9 de Porto \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al dans un bagage \u00e0 main, ni ce que repr\u00e9sente la lampe h\u00e9rit\u00e9e d’une grand-m\u00e8re dans un salon autrement contemporain. Mon int\u00e9r\u00eat en tant qu\u2019observatrice de ces grands courants design se situe \u00e0 cette intersection o\u00f9 se rencontre le temps, l’usage, & la m\u00e9moire. C’est elle qui donne de la densit\u00e9 \u00e0 un espace. L’int\u00e9rieur parfait mais sans biographie, c’est une coquille. Le minimalisme heureux, lui, fait de la place pour cette couche-l\u00e0.<\/p>\n

Le d\u00e9cor v\u00e9cu \u00e9chappe \u00e0 l’algorithme.<\/h3>\n

En vingt ans \u00e0 \u00e9tudier les int\u00e9rieurs, je n’ai jamais retenu ceux qui \u00e9taient parfaits. J’ai retenu ceux qui portaient des traces. Une rayure sur un bureau. Un mur repeint trente fois. Des objets qui n’auraient pas d\u00fb aller ensemble et qui, pourtant, forment un r\u00e9cit.
