Let’s get one thing straight. Are you most likely to remember a white or beige monochrome room that screams “I played it safe”? Or will you reminisce about that room that you may not have loved 100%, but that was daring and made a bold statement?<\/p>\n

If you answered the beige room, you may want to stop reading right now, because this post is about bold statements: the rooms that didn’t play it safe, the ones that shock or surprise you.<\/p>\n

I have had the immense chance to attend the Paris Maison & Objet<\/a> show in January and I came back with my head spinning from all the colour and bold accents I saw there. Held twice a year, in September and January, the show is the vastest in all of Europe for everything from furnishings, to plumbing to accessories. Anyhoo, since an image is worth a 1000 words…<\/p>\n

Here are a few first steps you can take to add a bit of bold in your house<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

1. While it may be scary to pick a pink floral sofa instead of a brown leather one, it’s what you make with it that will make or break a room. Items in themselves are not necessarily outdated or old fashioned. It all depends on what you mix them with.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

2. Get show stopping art. Whether others like it is irrelevant if you love it. One thing is for sure, it won’t leave people indifferent. Get it in a large scale or frame and hang it in an original way.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

3. Add pops of neon. Either on your walls or in smaller accents like pillows, neon will definitely add an impact. I love doors and trims in a neon color. It’s a bold choice without having to live with an entire neon room.<\/p>\n

4. Go monochrome. This can be a little hard to master but it basically involves doing an entire room in one color or variants of it. White, beige and other neutrals don’t count. I’m talking a bold lavender, blue, pink, whatever tickles your fancy. You will feel like in a cocoon.<\/p>\n

5. Go crazy in a small space. If you’re still not convinced about going bold, test it in a smaller space like a bathroom or even a closet. A closet is actually a great place to test wallpaper. You will love the result!<\/p>\n
