I spend a lot of time entertaining you (and myself) with the delights of furniture and home decor accessories. But there is a sphere that it increasingly on my radar and it is art. I realize that art can seem like a splurge and one might also make the argument that art is not necessary to make a home, a home.
To that I say: “Check your premises!” Art is what makes a house a home with personality and character. It is like its unique digital print as no two works of art are the same and give out the same atmosphere in a home. Moody or bright, taken with a camera or laid onto the canvas with paintbrushes, art takes many forms and caters to all sensibilities.
Start your own collection by just looking at different works by various artists to determine what your style is, what pleases you and what speaks to your tastes. It is not about the artist’s famous name or where his or her pieces were published, it is about what resonates with you and your home.
Then, purchase pieces as your budget permits, finding upcoming artists of talent that might have a price range that is more accessible if need be. A collection takes time and evolves as you do and that’s great.
