I met Amlyne Phillips six years ago as she was then working for a Montréal boutique with a taste for Mid-Centry Modern furniture. Even then, I could see her talent and keen eye for exquisite design and it is then no surprise that, a few years later, she created La Chambre Design. Props up to you my dear!
As I was writing my book {out in stores on October 21st} I got the chance to ask her a few questions about what’s a home, some of her Montréal must-sees and a few things she can’t live without.
What is your quintessential Montreal experience?
That is a truly hard question… Considering all the different cool nooks of Montreal, I can’t pick just one experience. From The yummy queue de Castor on a late evening in the old port to the nice relax sunday on the mountain, there are so many great experiences to be had in Montreal. Each corner has it’s special thing. I guess when I have to be honest, my favourite is antique and treasure hunting. Some places are so inexpensive and hoard some of the most interesting finds for cheap cheap. That would be for me, the quintessential Montreal experience, haha shopping for treasures.
5 of your favourite Montréal spots
Anywhere in the Old Port of Montréal, the Atwater Market, The Lachine Canal, the Mount-Royal overlooking the waterfront and the Marché aux Puces St-Michel, no doubt!
My 5 must-haves
Art on the walls, Throw pillows, a designer chair, LOVE and good coffee.
Something that would never cross the threshold of my home
The best piece of style advice I ever received
“Always in groups of three”. -Sun Ah Brock (my first mentor)
My home reveals what about me
My love for eclecticism! I love all styles, so mixing them together is my favourite pastime.
My perfect day at home
